We recently hired Blue Sky Limos for a big night out involving a
concert and a luxury suite. We definitely wanted to go all out and
make the most of the night and Blue Sky delivered with flying
colors. The party atmosphere of the concert carried over into our
ride to and from the show and made the whole experience even better.

Santa Nick arrived 15 minutes early to meet everyone and find out if there were any particular requests needed.  He was a hit with the group and took pictures with the whole crew.  They thought he was awesome and even though he had to give rules out which they all respected with quite cheerfully.  He led them through the city down 17th Avenue and  made stops as requested.  Afterwards he came back and chatted for a few minutes before leaving.  He was awesome and the group thought that the limo-bus  was awesome and beautiful.  It was classy and clean and very roomy.  Thanks for the unforgettable birthday celebration.

Hi there,
I just wanted to let you know that the two drivers (Paul and Doug) we had for our trip
from Boyle to Edmonton and back were exceptional!
They were very polite and never once got annoyed when we had to ask to stop for a
bathroom break or for a liquor stop.
We were very impressed how professional they were. Please let them and the management
know.

thank you.

WASN’T THAT A PARTY?  - Graham Hicks Edmonton Sun

The Epiar/Top Draw corporate anniversary party Saturday night, was, by all accounts, one of the best parties this city has ever seen.

It was a “coming out” party for Epiar, Ken Jurina’s Edmonton-based “search-engine optimization” company that has quietly become an Internet powerhouse that now boasts Microsoft as one of its many clients, plus Epiar’s companion company Top Draw.

Rumour has it that Epiar, an obvious takeover target by Internet giants, has turned down purchase offers several times into the tens of millions of dollars.

“The Gog,” a private downtown residence that doubles as a private party palace, was transformed over a day and a half by event producer Chill Decor into the famous Paris nightclub the Moulin Rouge.

Every space had its own unique decorations and props, as if there were five or six different parties at the same time.

In the massive kitchen, 20 to 30 NAIT culinary students and staff pumped out non-stop Vegas-style lamb/shrimp/you-name-it delectable dishes. The dessert table was to die for.

There were champagne fountains, strolling musicians, jugglers and magicians, an open bar and standup tables, each with its own candelabra, ringing the dance floor.

Dancers dressed in alluring flapper-style outfits were on the side go-go stages. The 11-member Retrofits band took the stage (it’s quite the house!) at 10:30 p.m. At midnight, DJ Nestor Delano took over.

Jurina greeted each of the 250 to 300 guests personally, offering each lady a Moulin Rouge-style boa.

Among those in attendance, some of the “superstars” of the Internet world, flown in as guests of Epiar: Vanessa Fox, founder of Google’s Webmaster Central; Internet marketing guru Rand Fishkin; Todd Friesen of Range Online Media; Jim Hedger of Webmaster Radio. In the industry, these folks are headliners.

In Edmonton, a real cross-section of the city’s next-gen, including Epiar’s Matthew Glass, Century Hospitality’s Chad Murphy, Derk’s Formals’ Sterling Derk, CTV’s Carrie Doll and The Team’s Jason Gregor. Jarret Stoll dropped by after the hockey game and new Eskimo alumni Ed Hervey and Singor Mobley were enjoying themselves.

No figures given out, naturally, but those familiar with event production estimated this party, with its open bar, had to have cost $100,000 to $140,000.

“This event,” said Blue Sky Limos’ Jim Korchinski, “will never be topped. Unless Ken throws another one.”

Edmonton Nightlife

Posted In: Edmonton, New by admin

There are several key concentrations of nightlife in the city of Edmonton. The most popular is the Whyte Avenue (82nd Avenue) strip, concentrated between 109 Street and 99 Street. It has the highest concentration of heritage buildings in Edmonton. Once the heart of the town of Strathcona (annexed by Edmonton on February 1, 1912), it fell into disrepair during the middle of the twentieth century. Beginning in the 1970s, a concentrated effort to revive the area through the establishment of a Business Revitalization Zone has produced an area rich with restored historical buildings and pleasant streetscapes. Its proximity to the University of Alberta has led to a high concentration of establishments ranging from restaurants and pubs to trendy clubs while hosting a wide variety of shops during the day. This area also contains two independent movie theatres: the Garneau and Princess theatres, as well as several live theatre, music and comedy venues.

Downtown Edmonton has undergone a continual process of renewal and unprecedented growth since the mid 1990s. Many buildings were demolished during the oil boom starting in the 1960s and continuing into the 1980s to make way for office towers. As such, there have always been numerous pub-type establishments which cater primarily to the office crowd such as The Rose and Crown, Sherlock Holmes’, and Elephant & Castle as well as many hotel lounges and restaurants. The past decade, however, has seen a strong resurgence in more mainstream venues. Various clubs such as the New City Suburbs, the Globe and Halo are also to be found along Edmonton’s main street, Jasper Avenue. The Edmonton City Centre mall also houses an Empire Theatres movie theatre, featuring ten screens. The non-profit Metro Cinema shows a variety of alternative or otherwise unreleased films every week.

West Edmonton Mall holds several after hour establishments in addition to its many stores and attractions. Bourbon Street has numerous eating establishments and clubs and casinos can also be found within the complex. Scotiabank Theater, at the west end of the mall, features thirteen screens and an IMAX theatre.
